For regular homogeneous equations of degrees d1​,…,dr​ in Pn, the normal bundle of a regular zero locus is ⨁i​O(di​)∣V​. The Euler sequence gives KPn​=O(−n−1), hence KV​=O(∑i​di​−n−1)∣V​. Equations with unreduced multiplicities do not have this conclusion for the underlying reduced submanifold.
