For u=log(r/a) and Φ=βqϕ−2u, a counterion-only Poisson-Boltzmann equation reduces to Φ′′=−Ce−Φ. Conditions Φ(0)=0, Φ→∞ and Φ′→0 give Φ=2log(1+bu), b=C/2>0. Matching surface Gauss's law gives b=η−1, so this branch requires the Manning parameter η>1. Its number density is n(r)=(η−1)2(a/r)2/[2πℓBa2(1+(η−1)log(r/a))2]. It leaves residual line-charge magnitude q/ℓB.
