For 0<E<V0, set k=2mE/ℏ and κ=2m(V0−E)/ℏ. Continuity at the potential step gives the evanescent amplitude c=2k/(k+iκ) for unit incident amplitude. Integrating ∣c∣2e−2κx over x>0 gives ∣c∣2/(2κ). Dividing by the incident probability current ℏk/m proves the displayed dwell time.
