For a normalized static metric ds2=−Vdt2+dr2/V+r2dΩ2 with a simple outer zero at r0, set b=V′(r0)>0. The Wick rotation and r−r0=bρ2/4 give dρ2+(bρ/2)2dtE2 to leading order, so smoothness fixes period 4π/b. In an ingoing null chart, ∇kk=(b/2)k on the future horizon; the outgoing chart gives the opposite sign on the past branch. The Hawking temperature is b/(4π)=∣κ∣/(2π) and uses the time generator normalized at infinity.
