When the self-gravity source in the pressureless linear cosmological density perturbation equation is negligible, δ¨+2(a˙/a)δ˙=0. Multiplication by a2 makes it d(a2δ˙)/dt=0, so δ=C1+C2∫dt/a2(t). This explains how Hubble friction changes growth for an arbitrary positive scale factor. For a∝tp, the nonconstant mode is t1−2p when p=1/2 and logt when p=1/2.
