In the area normalization d2, the buoyancy-gradient mixing-length closure transports dense-fluid buoyancy downward with magnitude F=d2KGz=d4(Gz)3/2. Its convergence in an upward coordinate is Fz. Transport has units L4T−3 and convergence units L3T−3. Constant positive Gz has nonzero transport and zero convergence; the two quantities cannot be identified.
