As a tempered distribution on R3,
F(∣x∣−1)(ξ)=C∣ξ∣−2
(1)
for a nonzero convention-dependent constant C. One proof writes
∣x∣−1=C1∫0∞t−1/2e−t∣x∣2dt
(2)
and applies the Fourier transform of a Gaussian before substituting u=∣ξ∣2/(4t).
