Vertical hydrostatic equilibrium gives p0=ρΩz2(H2−z2)/2. At a vacuum interface, the Lagrangian pressure perturbation vanishes: p′+ξz∂zp0=0. The vertical equation gives ξz=pz′/(ρω2), hence
p′−ω2Ωz2zpz′=0at z=±H.

The moving interface makes this different from setting the Eulerian perturbation of a fluid variable p′ to zero on the original surface.
