Functional response

The rate of consumption by an individual consumer as a function of resource abundance under specified conditions. Encounter, handling and satiation can generate different forms.

A saturating consumption response with encounter coefficient $a$ and handling time $h$. In the simple model $f(N)=aN/(1+ahN)$, consumption tends to $1/h$ at high resource density.
