The discrete normal modes of an infinite gravitating particle lattice involve F(ξ)=2∑l=1∞(1−cos(lξ))/l3. It is even, nonnegative and 2π-periodic. Its derivative is a positive reciprocal-square sine series for 0<ξ<π, so its maxima occur exactly at odd multiples of π, with F(π)=(7/2)ζ(3).
