For a streamwise pressure gradient −ρG and walls at z=±L with zero tangential magnetic field, the volumetric flow rate per unit span is
Q(H)=ν2GL3H2HcothH−1.
(1)
Its zero-field value is 2GL3/(3ν); it decreases strictly for H>0 and is asymptotic to 2GL3/(νH). The partial-fraction expansion of the hyperbolic cotangent proves monotonicity directly.
