For a constant-volume unit-width particle-laden gravity current with M=Lh, define the particle-fluid reference reduced gravity g0′=g(ρp−ρ0)/ρ0, so the current has g′=g0′ϕ. A constant front Froude number and absorbing-bed hindered settling give L˙=Fg0′ϕM/L and ϕ˙=−(VsL/M)ϕ(1−ϕ). Eliminating time and integrating gives the displayed runout length of a gravity current. For large runout and dilute initial concentration, L∞5∼25F2M3g0′(ϕ0+2ϕ02/3+⋯)/Vs2. This g0′ is buoyancy per unit particle fraction, not the initial current reduced gravity g0′ϕ0.
