In one dimension, xw=0 if and only if w=cδ0. Choose a cutoff function η=1 near zero and write every test function as φ=φ(0)η+xψ. The pairing with xψ vanishes, leaving ⟨w,φ⟩=φ(0)⟨w,η⟩.
