Writing s=1−J2/M4=1−a2/M2, the heat capacity of a Kerr black hole at fixed angular momentum is
CJ=4πM22−2s−s2s(1+s).
(1)
It is positive for 23−3<∣a∣/M<1, diverges at the lower endpoint, and tends to zero in the extremal limit.
