In the anti-Hermitian basis Ta=−iσa/2, the SU(2) Lie algebra has [Ta,Tb]=εabcTc and Killing form κ(Ta,Tb)=−2δab. This is negative definite; the positive internal form for compact Yang-Mills theory is its negative.
