Every Killing vector field K preserves the scalar curvature: LKR=Kα∇αR=0. One index proof rewrites this derivative as a doubly contracted curvature commutator acting on the antisymmetric tensor ∇[μKλ]; both terms vanish by symmetry of the Ricci tensor.
