The incompressible planar field (αx−βy,βx−αy) has the displayed stream function under (u,v)=(ψy,−ψx) and vorticity 2β. In rotated coordinates s=(x+y)/2, t=(x−y)/2, ψ=((α−β)s2−(α+β)t2)/2. For positive parameters its nonstationary streamlines are closed ellipses if α<β, hyperbolas and straight separatrices if α>β, and parallel straight lines with a stationary diagonal if α=β.
