For rational parabolic subgroups P=LU and Q=MV, define S(M,L)={x:M∩xL contains a maximal algebraic torus of G}. Then ∗RMGRLG is the sum over MF\S(M,L)F/LF of RM∩xLM∗RM∩xLxLadx, with the intersection parabolics understood. It follows from ordinary finite-group Mackey restriction formula, taking VF-invariants, and the compatible-Levi intersection lemma for parabolics.
