Under squared-error loss, the posterior expected loss decomposes as
E[(θ−a)2∣x]=Var(θ∣x)+(a−E[θ∣x])2.
(1)
It is uniquely minimized by the posterior mean. Integrating the Gamma posterior gives E[θ∣x]=b2∫0∞θ2e−bθdθ=2/b. Hence the Bayes estimator is
θB(X)=μ+X2.
