Put η=(γ2−a)/(γ1−a). The strict inequality gives ∣η−1∣<1, so Reη>0. This is a closed piecewise-smooth curve in the right half-plane, and part (b) gives n(η,0)=0. Since γ2−a=(γ1−a)η, part (a) yields
n(γ2,a)=n(γ1,a)+n(η,0),n(γ2,a)=n(γ1,a).

This is the dominated perturbation preserves winding number principle, here derived by logarithmic differentiation.
