For a Short Weierstrass form y2=x3+Ax+B, use c4=−48A and Δ=−16(4A3+27B2). Both curves have A=−1, so c4=48=3 in F5. For E1, B=0 gives Δ1=64=4; for E2, B=1 gives Δ2=−368=2. Thus
j(E1)=33/4=3,j(E2)=33/2=1in F5.
(1)
The j-invariant of an elliptic curve is preserved by every isomorphism over the algebraic closure. Since these values differ, the two curves are not geometrically isomorphic, even though the preceding part gives a degree-two elliptic isogeny.
