For the anticlockwise arc use x=cosθ, y=sinθ, 0≤θ≤π/2. Since dx=−sinθdθ and dy=cosθdθ, the line integral becomes
I3=∫0π/2[−α(cos2θsinθ+cosθsin2θ)+βcosθ]dθ.
(1)
The two integrals multiplying −α each equal 1/3, by substituting cosθ and sinθ respectively. The remaining integral equals one. Thus
I3=β−32α.
