Assume Tη=ηT, and let (A,a) be an algebra for a monad. Its unit identity gives aηA=1A. Naturality of η at a:TA→A, followed by the assumed equality, gives
ηAa=TaηTA=TaTηA=T(aηA)=1TA.
(1)
Thus every algebra action is invertible, with its inverse prescribed by the unit:
a−1=ηA.
