Use the principal complex logarithm, for which Logi=iπ/2, and set
a=π2log2,z=−1−π2iloga.
(1)
Then the definition of complex exponentiation gives
iz=ezLogi=eloga−iπ/2=−ia,
(2)
and therefore
i,iz=e(−ia)iπ/2=eaπ/2=elog2=2.
(3)
Other choices of branch of the complex logarithm produce further valid answers.
