No. In the Lebesgue space L1([0,2π]), let
fn(t)=sin(nt).
(1)
For every g∈L∞([0,2π]), finiteness of the interval gives g∈L1([0,2π]), and the Riemann-Lebesgue lemma yields
∫02πfn(t)g(t)dt⟶0.
(2)
The duality of Lp spaces therefore shows that fn⇀0 in L1. On the other hand,
∥fn∥1=∫02π∣sin(nt)∣dt=4
(3)
for every n. Thus weak convergence does not imply norm convergence in this L1 space; the Weakly null sine sequence in L1 is the required counterexample.
