An analytic continuation of f1 from D1 to D2 is a holomorphic function f2 on D2 whose restriction to the nonempty overlap D1∩D2 agrees with f1.
Suppose f2 and f2 are two such continuations. Both equal f1 on D1∩D2, so
f2=f2
(1)
on that nonempty open set. Since D2 is connected, the identity theorem gives
f2=f2 throughout D2.
(2)
Thus analytic continuation to D2 is unique.
