Put
Sn=∑k=0⌊(n−1)/2⌋(kn−k−1).
(1)
The initial values are S1=S2=1. Using Pascal's identity and the convention that an out-of-range binomial coefficient is zero,
Sn+2=k≥0∑(kn+1−k)=k≥0∑(kn−k)+k≥1∑(k−1n−k)=Sn+1+Sn.
(2)
Thus (Sn) has the same initial values and linear recurrence relation as the Fibonacci numbers. Mathematical induction gives
Fn=k=0∑⌊(n−1)/2⌋(kn−k−1).
