In the wing frame the unperturbed plasma moves with velocity −u0ex. The ideal magnetohydrodynamics condition E+u×B/c=0 therefore produces the motional electric field
E=−c(−u0ex)×(B0ez)=−cu0B0ey.
(1)
The wing's surface conductivity then gives the surface current density
J=ΣE=−cΣu0B0ey.
(2)
Its direction also follows directly from the Lorentz force on the wing's mobile charges.
