Let X=x−xL3 and Y=y be the displacement from the L3 Lagrange point, and put U=X˙, W=Y˙. The first-order linearization of a dynamical system is
X¨−2Y˙=FxX+FyY,Y¨+2X˙=GxX+GyY,
(1)
where every derivative is evaluated at L3. For the state vector ξ=(X,Y,U,W)T, this becomes
ξ˙=Aξ,A=00FxGx00FyGy100−20120L3.
(2)
The question's reuse of X for the state vector is only notation; its first two entries are the small displacements X,Y, not the absolute coordinates.
