A sequence (an) of real numbers is a convergent sequence with limit of a sequence ℓ when
∀ε>0 ∃N∈N ∀n≥N:∣an−ℓ∣<ε.
(1)
Divergence to positive infinity means
∀M∈R ∃N∈N ∀n≥N:an>M.
(2)
In both definitions the same N must control every later term. The second condition is not convergence to a real number.
