For synchronous gauge metric ds2=a2[−dτ2+(δij−hij)dxidxj], conserved-background comoving momentum obeys q′=qhij′ninj/2. In the linear Collisionless Boltzmann equation, insert Δ=−4f1/(qf0′) to obtain the displayed source. Using δij+hij instead reverses both signs; it does not change the physics. The scalar contraction is hij′ninj=(h′−hs′)/3+μ2hs′.
