For p>0 and a nonnegative integer n, integration by parts gives, when n>0,
Jn(p)=pn∫01sp(1−sp)n−1ds=pn(Jn−1(p)−Jn(p)).
(1)
The endpoint term [s(1−sp)n]01 vanishes. Therefore
Jn(p)=pn+1pnJn−1(p),J0(p)=1.
(2)
Repeated application yields Jn(p)=∏j=1npj/(pj+1). The integration by substitution w=sp also identifies Jn(p)=B(1/p,n+1)/p with an Euler beta function. A related weighted integral follows immediately from the same substitution:
∫01sp−1(1−sp)nds=p(n+1)1.
