For a prime number p, the identity r!(rp)=p(p−1)⋯(p−r+1) has right side divisible by p, while r! is coprime to p. Cancellation in modular arithmetic proves the divisibility.

Prime-row binomial coefficient divisibility
In polynomial modular arithmetic, prime-row binomial coefficient divisibility gives (1+X)p≡1+Xp. Multiply by (1+X)k and compare coefficients of Xr for r<p; the Xp term cannot contribute.
