Abdus Salam developed the gauge-theory unification of the weak interaction and electromagnetic interaction. The common electroweak framework relates charged and neutral currents, while spontaneous symmetry breaking accounts for massive weak carriers and a massless photon. His authored lecture traces how symmetry principles become quantitative relations among apparently different interactions.
