Consider a spatially flat universe containing radiation and a cosmic string network. If their densities are both ρeq at scale factor aeq, then
ρr=ρeq(aaeq)4,ρs=ρeq(aaeq)2.
(1)
In conformal time dτ=dt/a, the flat Friedmann equation becomes
(dτda)2=3c28πGaeq2ρeq(a2+aeq2).
(2)
Choosing the Big Bang at τ=0, its expanding solution is
a(τ)=aeqsinh(aeq3c28πGρeqτ).
