For a fixed positive-area region Ei​, its least-squares grey value is ci​=∣Ei​∣−1∫Ei​​g. The minimum fidelity equals ∫g2−∑i​(∫Ei​​g)2/∣Ei​∣. This eliminates the grey values before optimizing the partition geometry.
