For every root α of a complex semisimple Lie algebra, there are root vectors eα​∈gα​ and fα​∈g−α​ and an element hα​∈t satisfying
[hα​,eα​]=2eα​,qquad[hα​,fα​]=−2fα​,qquad[eα​,fα​]=hα​.
