Slow neutron-capture process ($s$-process)

The slow neutron-capture process builds nuclei heavier than iron when neutron captures occur more slowly than typical beta decays. Thermal pulses in asymptotic-giant-branch stars produce characteristic enhancements of elements such as strontium, zirconium, and barium.
