For a smooth compactly supported F:(0,∞)→R whose Mellin transform has suitable vertical decay, Mellin inversion and
−ζ(s)ζ′(s)=∑n≥1nsΛ(n)
(1)
give
∑nΛ(n)F(n/X)=2πi1∫(2)−ζ(s)ζ′(s)F(s)Xsds.
(2)
Moving the contour through the pole at s=1 and into the classical zero-free region gives main term XF(1) and error O(X1−c/loglogX) when F(σ+it)≪e−∣t∣1/2.
