Define σμν=2i[γμ,γν] using the gamma matrix Clifford algebra. Moving γρ through the two factors with {γμ,γν}=2gμν proves the displayed operator commutator. For real antisymmetric ωμν and S=1−4iσμνωμν, it gives S−1γρS=γρ+ωρνγν+O(ω2). This is the infinitesimal Lorentz covariance identity required by the Dirac equation.
