An orbit whose nodal precession tracks the central planet's annual motion, keeping approximately the same local solar time at corresponding crossings. Near-Earth implementations are nearly polar and exploit the planet's nonspherical gravitational field. Fixed local-time sampling supports comparison between passes while limiting observations of the diurnal cycle.
