With thermal diffusivity κ and magnetic diffusivity η, the standard Chandrasekhar number uses νη in its denominator. A thermal-diffusion alternative uses νκ and is ζ=η/κ times the standard parameter. In thermal-time magnetoconvection equations, the linear magnetic-force coefficient is σQκ=σζQCh. Specifying the convention prevents a missing diffusivity factor in a dispersion relation.
