Kenneth Pitzer modeled the thermodynamics of electrolyte solutions beyond the simplest dilute limit. His treatment modifies short-range binary-interaction terms to depend on ionic strength, combining physical guidance from the Debye–Hückel approximation with a compact representation of measured solution properties. The resulting equations accommodate both individual electrolytes and mixtures at substantially higher concentrations than a simple limiting law. This links molecular interactions with reusable predictions of nonideal solution behavior.[ref]
