Use the Minkowski generating functional Z=eiW, source +Jϕ, mean field φ=δW/δJ, and quantum effective action Γ=W−∫Jφ. Then W(2)=iG2c, W(3)=−G3c, and Γ(2)=−(W(2))−1. Differentiating this inverse gives Γ(3)=(W(2))−1⊗3W(3)=−i(G2c)−1⊗3G3c, with integration over the repeated spacetime arguments. Thus amputation of external propagators gives iΓ(3) in this convention. The full connected two-point functions, rather than bare propagators, perform the exact amputation.
