For an unramified extension of non-Archimedean local fields, let ϕ generate its cyclic Galois group. The ordinary Hilbert theorem 90 supplies b∈L× with x=ϕ(b)/b. A common uniformizer π∈K gives y=π−vL(b)b∈OL×, retaining the same quotient because ϕ fixes π. The reverse implication follows by telescoping the field norm.
