At z=hi/2, evenness and periodicity give ℘(z+hi)=℘(z). The Weierstrass half-period translation formula therefore identifies (℘(hi/2)−ei)2 with (ei−ej)(ei−el). Differentiating the Weierstrass half-period translation formula proves the identity, interpreted as equality of meromorphic functions, including the apparent singularities of its quotients.
