Athanasios Papoulis (1918-2002) was a prominent Greek-American mathematician known for his work in the fields of probability theory, statistics, and mathematical analysis. He is perhaps best recognized for his contributions to the field of stochastic processes and for developing foundational concepts in these areas. Papoulis is also well-known for his widely used textbook, **"Probability, Random Variables, and Stochastic Processes,"** which has been influential in engineering and applied mathematics education.
