Here's an example of the chain rule. Suppose we want to calculate:
dxde2x
(1)
So we have:
f(x)=exg(x)=2x
(2)
and so:
f′(x)=exg′(x)=2
(3)
Therefore the final result is:
f′(g(x))g′(x)=e2x2=2e2x
(4)
