John Lighton Synge (1897–1995) was an Irish mathematician and physicist known primarily for his contributions to relativity theory and differential geometry. He is perhaps best recognized for his work in the fields of general relativity and its applications, particularly in the context of gravitational theory. Synge made significant contributions to the understanding of gravitational lensing and the behavior of light in curved spacetime.
