Ion-channel inactivation

ID: ion-channel-inactivation

Ion-channel inactivation is loss of availability for conduction, distinct from simply closing an otherwise activatable ion channel. Recovery depends on channel type and membrane potential; incomplete recovery of sodium-selective voltage-gated ion channels contributes to a neuronal refractory period.
